2 Research Interest

My research focuses on the development of an alternative method with molecular imaging capabilities based on Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) and Imaging (MRI), which is, in contrast to other approaches, based on nonionizing radiation.

Using the promising non-conventional noble gas isotope xenon-129, state-of-the-art hyperpolarization techniques, and an innovative, indirect saturation-transfer detection method, xenon contrast agents can be detected very sensitive. By that, xenon MRI has promise to enter the excellent sensitivity of positron-emission-tomography, but avoiding ionizing radiation. Thus, potential applications reach from fundamental material science to biomedical questions.
