Welcome to the Giapis group website!

We are a small, hands-on research group focusing on fundamental surface dynamics and nano science. Our research approach revolves around Caltech’s long-standing philosophy of inventing unique instruments for science. We design and build new and improved research tools for specific scientific purposes, which give us a competitive edge over commercial instruments broadly available. Our group’s expertise in plasmas and plasma processing is featured prominently in home-built reactors to deposit and etch materials of interest, produce nano particles, or create generic ion beams for surface studies.
